There’s a new name to know in the dance music scene: Plaid Hawaii.
Based out of Milwaukee, Jason Womp (bass player for Undercover Organism, who appeared at Summer Camp 2014), took a producing side project and cultivated a new sub-genre of EDM that he can call his own. Tagged as “music to fall in love to,” Plaid Hawaii brands tropidelic house beats fused with a progressive indie dance funk that uplifts and grooves the soul with pure enjoyment.
“Frozen Flame,” available for download here is a featured single from the upcoming EP, Flora, which will be out March 24th. For this track, the axe-slaying guitarist from Particle, Mike Daum (who also played at Summer Camp 2013 with Roster McCabe), joins for elevating guitar licks that enhance the beach vibes and create a cohesive jamtronic groove.
Plaid Hawaii recently opened up for Matoma on his sold out, “Party At Your Place” world tour stop at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago. Mike Daum sat in for the festivities ~ here they performing a remix of Spada’s “Lost in Space”
and my personal favorite, a Plaid Hawaii original, “Time Feels.”
